with Angela Down as NAIDA TIERNAY
When the Great War ended a young English-woman who had been working in MIS in London, decided to travel and see the world. She placed an advertisement in The Times offering her services as a governess and found herself on Christmas Eve 1919, disembarking at Rangoon to begin a journey of 750 miles by train into the heart of Burma.
Over the next two-and-a-half years, in letters home, she described in vivid and amusing detail the day to day life of a Forest Officer and his family in a remote outpost of the British Empire.
These previously unpublished letters have been selected and edited by NESTA PAIN .
