Daughters of the Vicar by D.H. Lawrence, abridged in four parts by Ba Mason. Read by Glenda Jackson
1: Mary and Louisa Lindley were daughters of the Vicar of Aldecross, a disappointed and embittered man. His wife, equally embittered, had retreated into invalidism. Miss Mary, the eldest child, was a long slim thing with a proud, pure look. Miss Louisa, the second, was short and plump and obstinate-looking.

Themes from the 70s. A series of ten programmes 7: The New Rich
In the autumn of 1973 the Shah of Iran saw his country's oil revenue quadruple. He determined to use the money to make Iran the dominant military and economic power in the Near East. But his plans for the construction of what was called the Great Civilisation took no account of popular resentment at the disruption of traditional social and religious values.
With the help of eyewitnesses and participants in the events described, David Lay traces the course of the Iranian Revolution, and the consequences it might have for other countries in the Persian Gulf.
