How will the new government make friends with the rest of Africa. black and white, and with the world beyond? John Timpson looks at these and other aspects of the election aftermath, in another broadcast direct from Salisbury.

In the autumn of 1973 the Shah of Iran saw his country's oil revenue quadruple. He determined to use the money to make Iran the dominant military and economic power in the Near East. But his plans for the construction of what was called the Great Civilisation took no account of popular resentment at the disruption of traditional social and religious values.
With the help of eyewitnesses and participants in the events described, David Lay traces the course of the Iranian Revolution, and the consequences it might have for other countries in the Persian Gulf.
