There is no village actually called Hedingham. It is a combination of several villages in North Lincolnshire, where Geoffrey Robinson 's Victorian forebears lived. But the people existed and the stories are true, even though they seem to echo the bawdy world of Henry Fielding and the 18th century, more than Victorian repression.
