To most people, computers are some sort of electronic brains... machines with minds of their own. And they have a nagging fear that they just could get out of control. With their influence in our lives spreading rapidly - they already affect everything from the delivery of our daily bread to the registering of our motoring trespasses - are the fears justified? Do we have any cause for concern? Or is the computer simply an invaluable aid to progress as the technocrats would prefer us to believe?
