Young children come under the specialist care of the paediatrician-a doctor trained in their particular problems.
But the modern paediatrician is starting to include study of the child even before he is born - to diagnose, and sometimes to treat, things that might later cause profound problems for the child himself and his family. Diseases caused by genetic defects are one such problem.

Hector Berlioz wrote his Symphonie Fantastique about his tempestuous love for an Irish actress, Harriet Smithson , the rage of Paris for her Shakespearean performances.
As well as writing the symphony he married Harriet. The symphony was a triumph, the marriage a tragic failure.
