The last woman in this country to be hanged ... If you were to ask 20 people in the street whether she should have hanged, some would probably say: ' Serves her right '; others, 'Nobody should be treated like that.'
Yet she was hanged for the murder of her lover under the law as it then existed in 1955. She offered little defence, she asked no mercy.
