However beautiful the Norman arches of Stewkley church, they can always be shipped to America if the third London airport overwhelms them.
The minority of affluent commuters. articulate and mobile. can also remove themselves without difficulty. But the majority of the population, the families of smallholders who have farmed the north Bucks villages for centuries, are not as mobile and the destruction of their way of life would be irremediable.
