Venus Williams outlasted fellow
American Lindsay Davenport in an epic final last year to claim her third title and, at number 14, become the lowest ranked player to win the championship since seedings were officially introduced in 1927. Venus had come from match point down to win the longest ever ladies'final recorded at the All England Club 4-6,7-6 (7-4), 9-7, a match lasting two hours and 45 minutes. Play continues on BBC2 at 5.30pm.
