A siege makes Charlie fear for his life. Meanwhile. Harry bares his soul to Selena.

Medical Drama: Casualty 8.45pm BBC1
After a week's absence for the Live 8 concert, Casualty returns with all its dramatic guns blazing. Selena is still recovering after being stabbed, while her estranged husband Will is getting cosy with a young blonde woman regular viewers will recognise as a right troublemaker. Abs certainly knows her as one. Bex is attacked for the second time by Pete, with startling consequences, and the paramedics are called out to a hostage situation.
But for what should be an action-packed episode, the cast seem to move in slow motion. Josh and Charlie stroll up the stairs to answer a 999 call as if they were on their way to a dull tea party. Don't they know that ambulance response times are monitored? Even worse, there's a heck of a lot of dialogue slowing things down, some of which is laughable. "It's OK. You've been stabbed," Will tells Selena consolingly. Since when is being stabbed OK? (JR)
