Comedy: Linda Green 9.30pm BBC1
"Our Linda" - by day an office worker, by night a club singer - is back for another series focusing on her and her pals' tangled love lives. Tonight she is given relationship advice from an unusual source - Eddie, a mysterious pizza-delivery man who knows a thing or two about fengshui. He's played by comedian Peter Kay, who delivers a star turn.
Eddie has a lot to work on. He finds Linda (Liza Tarbuck) - on her birthday, in her empty flat, in floods of tears - faking a noisy party. Linda is distraught because her best mate Michelle (Claire Rushbrook) has quite unjustly accused Linda of having an affair with her husband Darren. Soon Eddie has bundled Linda into his delivery van, where he presents a singular lesson in the human heart using his doorstep observations. With typical gusto, Linda soon feels compelled to sort out her own life, and the lives of her friends, with varying degrees of success.
Linda Green (the woman and the series) wasn't to everyone's taste when she first hit our screens last year, but Paul Abbott's writing is sparky, and there are some great one-liners here. And Linda can be quite winning - so long as she stays off the drink.
