[Photo caption] Firefighter Holly (Gaynor Faye) begins Playing the Field when she is asked to join the Castlefleld Blues
Drama: Playing the Field: 9.30pm BBC1
Don't worry if you can't remember what happened in the first three series about the women of the Castlefield Blues football team, as there's a potted history of the relevant storylines edited together before the credits. So we begin series four with the Mullens awaiting the imminent return of Luke and Shazza from their honeymoon. Except that only a suntanned Luke arrives with a story that Shazza has decided to stay in St Kitts to spend more time with her dad. Meanwhile Jo and dodgy Ryan move in with Ma "no hanky-panky, mind" Mullen and a new striker is recruited to fill Shazza's boots - firefighter Holly, played by Gaynor Faye, ex-Corrie star and daughter of series creator Kay Mellor. Some dodgy football sequences in a charity match against a beer-bellied male team are made up with some high melodrama and fine acting from all the cast. (FL)
