Badger 8.30pm BBC1
Jerome Flynn is settling nicely into his role as Tom McCabe, the policeman with a remit to save wildlife. His Geordie accent, mild as it is, is pretty convincing too and, all in all, he's a reassuring anchor to this new drama.
Tonight finds him and sidekick Jim Cassidy on the trail of the supplier of fake £20 notes. This gives them some nice scenes amid the glory that is Newcastle by night and brings them into contact with a villain who turns out to have more than a passing interest in carp.
On a more personal level, McCabe now has his stroppy teenage daughter Wilf living with him, and is trying to negotiate a romance with vet and single parent Steph at the same time. A complicated personal life, then, for this latest in the line of television cops.
