To mark the artist's 90th birthday year this film examines the life and work of Willem de Kooning, considered by some to be the world's greatest living painter. De Kooning was diagnosed in 1988 as having Alzheimer's disease, and a year later he was declared legally incompetent. Despite his illness he continued to paint; this later work has been the subject of controversy. While many consider it to be his finest, others feel that demand for these paintings is fuelled by their scarcity, not quality. Narrated by Matthew Collings, this updated version of a 1991 Late Show special is timed to coincide with a major exhibition of de Kooning's paintings at London's Tate Gallery.
Classic horror, showing as a tribute to Donald Pleasence who died earlier this month.
Also starring Jamie Lee Curtis
