A seven-part series about a journey of exploration and adventure with the Brothers Blair among the volcanic islands and coral reefs of the vast Indonesian archipelago.
Lorne and Lawrence Blair, two young Englishmen, voyage under sail for nearly 2,000 miles through the far-flung Spice Islands. They take passage aboard a large and sinister black-sailed schooner - one of a diminishing fleet of engine-less traders of almost medieval design.
Its crew are Boogiemen - part merchants, part pirates; these were the original 'bogeymen' and they are still regarded with deep suspicion among the islands. Once a year, they return to their remote home port - for long enough to repair their ships and sire another 'crop' of children. Then they disappear beyond the horizon again - for another ten months.
