A two-part film starring Anthony Hopkins as Paul of Tarsus, Robert Foxworth as Peter the Fisherman
also starring Eddie Albert as Festus, Raymond Burr as Herod Agrippa, Jose Ferrer as Gamaliel, Jon Finch as Luke the Physician, David Gwillim as Mark, Herbert Lom as Barnabas, Jean Peters as Priscilla, John Rhys-Davies as Silas

Filmed on location in Rhodes and Athens, this vivid portrayal chronicles the beginnings of the Christian church through the lives of two men.

Four years after the death of Jesus Judaea remains under the iron grip of Rome. His tiny band of followers are forced to meet in secret; his teachings face extinction in a hostile world that treats them as blasphemers.

Two men come forward: one is Peter the fisherman, disciple of Jesus; the other is Saul Paulus of Tarsus, devout orthodox Jew and energetic persecutor of the new teachings. They begin as mortal enemies...
