The Beaminster and District Gardens and Allotments Society goes to Chelsea
Reporter John Pitman
The members of a gardening club in Dorset are given the chance to design a garden for Chelsea, the greatest flower show on earth.
The garden was entirely planned and stocked by the amateurs, though they were advised by professionals like Percy Thrower, Geoffrey Smith and Bill Sower-butts.
In the end, the little local society compete with professional nursery-men from all over the world and try to win a coveted gold medal.
