Budding and Grafting
This is the practice of joining two separate living plants so that they form a permanent growing union. Techniques covered in this programme include budding for roses, patch budding for ornamental trees, and whip and tongue grafting for fruit trees.

Last autumn two dozen marching bands took part in the second British Marching Band Championships. Trumpet and drum corps, military-type bands, drums and bugles. All were there to perform for about eight minutes in front of a wide-ranging panel of judges who marked on display and showmanship, drill and deportment, and musical effect, to decide on the British Champion.

The Belgian International Flower Show
Opened by The King and Queen of The Belgians, and visited by half a million people, the Floralies can only be described as ' one of the greatest flower shows in the world'.
In just five days the Congress centre in Ghent is transformed, as the seasons are drawn together into a blazing display of colour: Belgian azaleas, Italian roses and Dutch daffodils.
Peter Seabrook walks the three miles in and amongst the international exhibits, including ' An English Country Garden', the official British entry.
