DES BAWDEN is a white farmer. His father was one of the original Pioneers, carved a massive property out of the bush and survived the African rebellion in 1896. Des's eldest son Barry is a regular soldier fighting the terrorists up in the North East.
SOTTAYI KATSERE IS one Of Rhodesia's eight black barristers. His grandfather died fighting the white man in 1896. His father owns a small farm. He sends his daughter to a multi-racial school.
Ten years after UDI black and white politicians seem unable to reach a settlement, but do the Bawdens and the Katseres think all races can live together in Rhodesia?
