In the first part of the new debate Peter Hain and Rev Paul Oestreicher argue that, in certain instances, breaking the law is justified as a means of protest; direct action may be the only way to change existing legislation. They are challenged and cross-questioned by Rt Hon Reginald Maudling, MP former Home Secretary, and John Leonard, QC who believe that no one - and particularly no Christian - should take the law into his own hands.
