The First Editions of Love in a Village contain the following ' Advertisement': ' It may not be improper to inform the readers, that there is an incident or two in this Opera which bear some resemblance to what may be found in a piece called the Village Opera written in the year Twenty-nine by C. Johnson. ' This radio adaptation also includes a speech or two from the same source.
