Since 1954, amateur and professional botanists have been co-operating in collecting information on the occurrence of every flowering plant and fern throughout the British Isles. An atlas of maps showing the distribution of these plants will eventually be published. Dr. Walters as Director of the Distribution Maps Scheme of the Botanical Society of the British Isles, is responsible for this work.
