This play is about an eye operation. It is an attempt to convey, in dramatic form and in verse, an experience which is usually considered supremely difficult to communicate-acute physical sensation; sensation which is also, and necessarily, an emotional experience. The author of the play has himself undergone the difficult and delicate eye operation described.
