Selden, who inscribed the phrase liberty above all things' inside all the books in his library, made it also his first concern as a lawyer. In this talk Mr. Watkins considers the nature of Selden's regard for the rule of law, ' the constant and settled laws of this kingdom, without which we have nothing.'
