First of three talks by A. R. Ubbelohde , F.R.s.
Professor of Chemistry
In the Queen's University, Belfast
The changes that have taken place in the past 250 years in man's exploitation of sources of energy-from animals and human labour to nuclear reactors — are, Professor Ubbelohde believes, as remarkable as the transition from the age of reptiles to the age of mammals. In this talk he examines the social and economic consequences of this transition and gives a warning as to what will have <o be done to find enough cheap power for the needs of future populations.
