Gianandrea Gavazzeni , who is well known in Italy as a composer, conductor, and writer on music, was born at Bergamo in 1909; he studied in Rome and Milan, and later became a pupil of Pizzetti. This
Cinquando ' (Cinquando being the name of a village near Bergamo); the other two are also to be broadcast, on April 13 and 23. The concertos are pre-eminently classical in style; No. has two movements: Allegretto iranquilto and Allegro sostenuto. Deryck Cooke
