Talk by C. E. W. Bean
One hundred and fifty years ago Australia was virtually an empty and impenetrable continent. Since then she haa acquired a population largely of British origin. Dr. Bean, the Australian historian, describes how waves of migration have depended on unrest at home, and refers particularly to the great inflow of peoples from the Continent of Europe as well as from the British Isles since the last war.
