Talk by Professor E. M. Butler
Last Saturday in the Third Programme Dr. Gilbert Murray spoke of Jane Harrison 's gifn as a classical scholar and her exceptional capacity for inspiring her students. During the first world war E. M. Butler , Fellow of Newnham College and Professor of German at Cambridge, found herself a student ot Jane Harrison in unusual circumstances. In this talk she recalls the qualities in Jane Harrison 's personality that made her teaching an inspiration.
