A series of six lectures by Professor E. Evans-Pritchard

In his last lecture Professor Evans-Pritchard tries to give answers to the question: what is the purpose of studying social anthropology? He shows that the study has a bearing on the administration of primitive peoples and that various colonial governments and other bodies are consequently interested in it. He then considers the broader issue of the function in the world today of what are often called social sciences and the many problems posed by different points of view regarding them. He ends by indicating what he thinks are the main reasons hat justify studying this branch of knowledge.
