Part 1
Talk by A. Parker , C.B.E., D.sc. (Director of the Government Fuel Research Station) on the future of oil as an element of industrial and national power
The winter coal crisis turned the thoughts of many people for the first time to the possibility of finding substitutes for Britain's staple fuel.
This is only one of many objectives set themselves by scientists engaged in fuel research. The most obvious substitute is. of course, oil, and these possible new uses. coupled with the already enormous demands, have added further to the value and importance of the world's oilfields. In a survey of existing and potential sources, Dr. Parker will also have something to say of their significance in international affairs
