Busoni's reputation as one of the great pianists of his day unjustly overshadowed him as a composer, so that a recital of his piano works is nowadays something of a rare occasion. Today's programme presents a selection of the works of Busoni's maturity, showing a bold and original mind-a mind able to bridge the Germanic and the Latin conceptions of music, and one that made an important contribution to contemporary music
