High up in the Barbary Mountains midway between Morocco and Tunisia lies one of the strangest parts of North Africa. This is Kabylia, the claim of whose people it is that, despite the numberless oppressors in their history, they have never been conquered. They are a fine-looking people, warm-hearted, hospitable, and at the same time ruthless in many of their customs. The blood feud remains in its strongest form, and assassination is commonplace.
George Kimble , who is Lecturer in Geography at Reading University, will describe some of the impressions he gained of the Kybeles during a recent visit, and will bring to his subject the eye not only of an experienced traveller but of an expert geographer.

Like Camp Fire on the Karoo ' and ' On Trek ', this new series by Josef Marais takes listeners to South Africa, the country of his birth. The scene is set on the stoep (verandah) of a typical farmhouse on the Karoo, an expanse of veld on every side, and the sound of crickets and the distant bleating of sheep heard repeatedly.
There are three characters: Hendrik, the owner of the farm, played by Josef Marais ; George, a boyhood friend of Hendrik's (who has just returned from England to Africa a qualified doctor and is practising in the nearby dorp (village) ), played by George Prangnell , who was in ' Camp Fire on the Karoo ' ; and Klaas, a Hottentot boy (seventy years old though he is), played by Cyril Evans , who was in both of Marais' previous shows. He is a South African and knew Marais out there.
The idea of the series is to plant the atmosphere of the veld ; to tell listeners something about the Hottentots, who survive in decreasing numbers ; and to introduce some of the lilting folk songs that are still sung out there.
