Kabalevsky is one of the most interesting composers now working in Soviet Russia. Thirty-four years of age, he is tall and shy, and his charming personality is reflected in his music. He has already written a piano concerto, two string quartets, and several symphonies. Many listeners will remember the broadcast of his lyrical and melodious Second Symphony, under Albert Coates , about two years ago.
