by Herbert Fryer
Like many other distinguished musicians, Herbert Fryer comes from Yorkshire. He studied the piano both at the Royal Academy and the Royal College of Music, and at the latter, composition under Sir Charles Stanford. In 1900 he went to Weimar to study under Busoni, and then gave recitals in Vienna, Berlin, and several other German cities. In London he has appeared as soloist at the Proms and at the Royal Philharmonic Society's concerts, and he is well known in the provinces and the colonies. For two years he lived in New York and for five in Switzerland. Since the war Mr. Fryer has been a professor at the Royal College of Music.
