Public Schools Racquets from Queen's Club

Women's Professional Billiards Match
JOYCE GARDNER (World Billiards Champion) v. RUTH HARRISON (World Snooker Champion) from Burroughes and Watts Billiards Hall

English Schools Association Football Match
London County v. Middlesex County from King Edward VII Recreation Ground, Willesden
Commentaries by: AIDAN CRAWLEY (Racquets)
THELMA CARPENTER (Billiards)
P. N. S. CREEK (Football)

Today's commentaries are full of contrast - men, women, and boys. Public school men playing racquets, women playing billiards, boys playing football.
As to racquets, the commentary is on the final of the Noel-Bruce Cup (Public Schools Racquets Doubles) and the commentator is Aidan Crawley, a very great player himself, both at Harrow and since, who reached championship class.
As to billiards, Ruth Harrison is as much above snooker players of her sex as is Joyce Gardner above billiards players. Both are World Champions. The two girls often meet in competition and beat each other regularly. Today's match is for one thousand points up, for a substantial prize. The commentary will be given by Thelma Carpenter , of Bournemouth, an ex-Women's Billiards champion who joined the ranks of the professional players two or three years ago.
And as to football, both teams are drawn from secondary schools. The ground at Willesden holds 15,000 spectators, and no doubt some of them will be on the look out for promising players to represent their countries in the schoolboys' internationals later in the season. The commentator is F. N. S. Creek , the famous Corinthian player, who made his radio debut as a commentator in last year's Varsity Soccer match, and shared with Ivan Sharpe the description of the Cup Final.
