Speech by The Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. STANLEY BALDWIN from the Guildhall
Tonight's banquet, held every year by long tradition and broadcast regularly since 1925, is not a public, but a private, function. It is a dinner given by the new Lord Mayor to the ex-Lord Mayor, who is the principal guest. By tradition it has become an occasion to introduce some of His Majesty's Ministers, and the Prime Minister, or the highest Minister available, invariably goes.
The only part of the banquet to be broadcast this evening will be the speech given by Mr. Stanley Baldwin.
