At the Organ of The Paramount Theatre, Manchester
During the last twelve months this popular organist has achieved three ambitions: to broadcast, to conduct and produce his own band act (Henri and his Accordion Band, which toured the Paramount Circuit and broadcast from Leeds last May), and lastly, to open the organ at Paramount s newest theatre in Glasgow.
He was originally a bank clerk in Leeds and had great difficulty in persuading his parents to allow him to take up music professionally. But he took the plunge and has never had cause to regret it. Listeners may have wondered why he chose for his signature tune 'My Girl's a Yorkshire Girl '. He married one. He has just started his twin sons studying the violin and piano under the master he studied under. He spends his spare time riding on horseback over the Ilkley moors.
Up to two months ago, Henry Croudson was organist at the Paramount, Leeds. He was appointed to Manchester on May 20.

The director of this popular orchestra is a well-known solo violinist in the North, and has been called one of Liverpool's most enterprising musicians. He won a scholarship to the late Liverpool College of Music and made his first appearance as a soloist at the old Yamen Rooms, playing Svendsen's ' Romance '. His first engagement was to play viola in the Quinlan Opera Company's productions at the Court Theatre, Liverpool. He was wounded in the war, and after demobilisation, he became a student at the Royal Manchester College of Music under the famous Adolf Brodsky. While at the College he joined the Liverpool Philharmonic and Halle Orchestras, and is first violinist in both at the present day.
About six years ago he took up conducting and commenced the Sunday evening concerts in the Floral Pavilion, Wallasey, which he has given spring and autumn ever since. His Sunday concerts in the St. George's Hall, Liverpool, and his Chamber Orchestral Concerts in the Walker Art
Gallery, Liverpool, have also been heard on the air.
In 1930 his orchestra played frequently at a Birkenhead cinema, and so the Merseyside Symphony Orchestra was born.
Cohen's object at Harrogate is to provide good music in an informal manner, in the most beautiful surroundings, in the open air. With any help from the weather he hopes to build up in the Valley Gardens something on the lines of Continental Spas and Viennese beer gardens, where the best light music can be heard under the most pleasant conditions.
