Mr. S. K. RATCLIFFE : The United States-I, the American Scene in 1932' THE first of another big autumn series of talks, in which the present condition and outlook of the three great Powers-the U.S.A.,France, and Germany-will be explained with reference to their recent history. Broadcasting already offers an efficient service of clear, unbiassed information on international affairs ; ignorance of a nation's historical background is as potent a cause of misunderstanding as doctored news. Interest is centred on the U.S.A. at the moment, because of the Presidential election and the reactions of the greatest industrial and financial slump of modern times. Mr. Ratcliffe will discuss tonight the main factors and personalities in the American scene.
