KELLEY VAUDEVILLE , always the most popular of broadcast programmes, demands its biggest audience on Saturday night, and 'Music Hall 'this week continues the tradition of first-class variety entertainment associated with its title, '
.Lily Morris, whose second microphone appearance this is, is becoming as great a favourite with radio audiences as she is on her native 'Halls' by her vivid personality, full-blooded songs, and breezy style.
Ethel Levey , famous for her songs in revue and variety in London, Paris, and New York for the last thirty years, made her first appearance on the London stage at the old Tivoli Music Hall on 'Mafeking' Night, May 18, 1900. Mario Lorenzi , with his attractive harp solos, the comic ever-fresh patter of Collinson and Dean, and Charles Higgins , the street-songs of Mollie Molloy , and Norman Long with his popular songs and jokes at the piano make up a varied and attractive 'bill ' of ideal entertainment for a summer Saturday night.

ALEXIS CHABRIER, born in 1841 (died 1894), is one of those few but distinguished composers who practically taught themselves. He studied law, but fortunately preferred music. His music is brilliant, witty, and full of orchestral colour, his Spanish Rhapsody affording a very famous example of all these qualities. He wrote operas, the most famous of them being Le Roi malgre lui, which is still sometimes performed. He had a remarkable influence on the French composers who succeeded him, and he is considered to be one of the generators of modern French music.
MASSENET was essentially a composer for the stage, and in Paris, in his day, he was the most adored of all operatic composers. He wrote a great number of operas, but with the exception of Manon, not one of them really held the affection of English audiences. Outside the theatre he did not compose a great deal. His three or four orchestral suites, however, are played very much in concert-rooms all over the world. This is a number from one of the most popular of these suites.
THE opera Mignon is the most celebrated of the many written by Ambroise Thomas. It was revived only this spring at the ' Old Vie,' and it has always been popular in this country, while in Paris it is in the standing repertory. The plot of the opera is taken from Goethe's Wilhelm Aleister, and the young girl, Mignon. is made a very charming character. Everybody is familiar with this Gavotte from the opera, which is so perfect of its kind that it is alone enough to make the reputation of any composer. In the opera itself it is a song.
