True stories of the world we live in 14-THE PEOPLE NEXT DOOR
The story of an experiment whose purpose is to remove loneliness and the sense of being unwanted from the lives of those whom old age has left alone in the world. In this experiment the people next door-neighbours-have contributed in a practical way to the idealism of the man who began it, Major Carr-Gomm. He, together with friends who share his views and some of the old people whose lives have been made happier, reconstruct the progress of this neighbourly experiment in Bermondsey.
Script compiled by Wyn Knowles
