Alec Dale persuaded Sally to meet Denby Harris with a view to expanding her business. Mr. Fulton received a oonciliatory note from Maud French, which he returned unread with a rude letter. Sally was furious with him and refused to speak to him; and Trevor was equally furious with Sally because he thought she had been reading one of his letters. As a result, Fulton and Trevor wen.t out together to drown their sorrows. When Mrs. Dale asked Sir Bernard Remington Wade to recommend a good Counsel for the enquiry, he reiterated what Mrs. Gascoyne's solicitor had said-that a young barrister would handle their case very well. Isabel and Edward F:elding decided to apply to the Council to become foster-parents.
