The British Wireless for the Blind Fund makes only one appeal each year-the Christmas Day broadcast. The first was made in 1929. Since then the Fund has provided a total of 152,000 sets and relay installations for blind people for many of whom the wireless is their only solace in a suddenly darkened world. A set costs £ 10, and every year more than 5,000 new sets are needed.
