The polyglots are a group of refugees from Russia and German-occupied Belgium. By 1918, war and revolution have destroyed the traditional foundations of gracious living on which they have relied, but the play finds them living and behaving as extravagantly as ever in Tokyo, presided over by the formidable and domineering personality of ' Aunt Teresa.' But a naive and touching fortitude arms them against a sea of troubles.
