Murder
Glasgow—1862
Jessie M'Lachlan was tried and convicted for the murder of her friend Jessie
M'Pherson. After the verdict had been returned against her a statement was read to the Court by her counsel, in which she accused the principal witness for the prosecution of being the murderer. The case and its aftermath created an enormous sensation, and speculation continues to this day regarding The Sandy-ford Mystery.
