Appeal on behalf of the Queen's Institute of District Nursing by Robert Morley, C.B.E.
Contributions will be gratefully acknowledged and should be addressed to Robert Morley, Esq., [address removed]
The Queen's Institute is the only national body organising district nurse training. It also. provides refresher courses, does research into district nursing problems, administers benevolent funds for sick and retired district nurses, and pioneers district nursing services overseas. Under the National Health Service Act, financial responsibility for providing and maintaining district nurses, formerly undertaken by voluntary associations, was laid on the local health authorities, with whom the Institute cooperates closely in the interests of the service. The Institute is still an independent, voluntary organisation, and funds are needed for its support.
