George Band (Chairman) youngest member of the 1953 Everest expedition; has been on two further Himalayan expeditions-Rakaposhi and Kinchenjunga; and has also climbed in the Andes.
H. W. Tilman has been climbing in Africa and Asia for thirty years; in 1955, to seek new climbs, he sailed a small yacht to the mountain fiords of Patagonia.
Simon Clark recently led an undergraduate expedition from Cambridge to climb in the Andes; the party successfully climbed Pumasillo.
Wilfrid Noyce the author-mountaineer, has never been to the Andes. He asks questions and compares experiences of the other speakers with his own extensive knowledge of the Himalayas.
