Statutory changes and recent legal actions have given new impetus to the eighty-year-old campaign against river pollution. In this talk the Local Government Correspondent of the Manchester Guardian describes the causes and effeats of pollution on some North of England rivers, and reports on the possibilities of removing a menace to fishermen, a danger to public health, and an offence to passers-by.
