1: "A Saturday with the Bells"
Production by Josephine Plummer
Last time we met the Bell family they had just returned from a wonderful holiday by the sea (made possible by a present to Ginnie from her grandfather); Alex, their father, had been made a Canon - in fact, everything was going well. Their luck still seems to be holding: Paul's headmaster thinks he stands a good chance of getting a scholarship to the university, and Jane and Angus are doing very well at Sadler's Wells. But the real surprise is Ginnie. She has always wanted to shine at something, but never succeeded. Now it really looks as if she may achieve her ambition.

Last July, a small sailing boat slipped quietly into Plymouth Harbour and rounded up alongside the quay. Handling the craft was Edward Allcard , desperately thin and suffering from jaundice. For him it was the first step ashore since Casablanca, left forty-two days previously, and was the end of a three-year adventure which included the double crossing of the Atlantic during a voyage of 14,000 miles.
