The Methodist Revival, associated in England with the names of the WeOeys and Georg: Whitefield, and in Wales with those of Howell Harris. Daniel Rowlands. Williams Pantycelyn , and others in the first half of the eighteenth century, marked a turning point in the history of Wales. Apart from its directly evangelical and religious significance, it had an important bearing upon the life of Wales educationally, socially, and in other respects.
The town of Aberystwyth, which is the seat of the oldest University College of Wales, is very closely associated with the Welsh Ca!vinistic Methodist tradition. In this broadcast from Tabernacle, the parent Welsh Presbyterian Church in Aberystwyth, Dr. Edwards speaks about the significance of the Revival and of its lasting contribution to the life of Wales.

Verdi's settings of the Stabat Mater and the Te Deum are the second and fourth of the Four Sacred Pieces (Quattro Pezzi Sacri) that he wrote towards the end of his life. All of them were broadcast in the Third Programme last night.
The Stabat Mater is in one continuous movement, and the famous medieval
Latin hymn is set in a singularly direct manner, without any repetition of words. It brings before us a vivid picture of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, standing grief-stricken at the foot of the Cross. The Te Deum, for double chorus and orchestra, begins with a liturgical melody sung by the basses of one chorus and answered by the tenors of the other. The canticle is continued 'with block chords sung very softly, until, at the word Sancrus,' the entire forces acclaim together the holiness of God. Harold Rutland

Appeal on behalf of the Family Welfare Association, by the Lady Cynthia Colville , D.c.V.o., j.p.
Contributions will be gratefully acknowledged and should be addressed to [address removed]
The Family Welfare Association believes that the family is the nation's primary institution, and that family life is the most important undertaking in our society today. There are, however, many occasions when families are faced with problems they cannot handle alone, and to deal with these problems the Association maintains, a National Case-work Department and local offices in the London area.
In this way each year more than 132,000 families and individuals are assisted. The Association is not nationalised and must raise an additional £ 12,000 a year to maintain its present standard of work.

At a council held on the Lion it is decided that it would be unsafe for John Kemp, Seraphina, and Castro to remain on board, since, Manuel having escaped, O'Brien will inevitably be on the look-out for them in Havana. They are to remain hidden on sugar plantation of the Riegos on the coast until the Lion has been searched, cleared, and is ready to sail for England But a violent storm capsizes their boat and Kemp barely has time to jump ashore with Seraphina in his arms.
Castro leads them to a cavern that will serve as a temporary refuge. Early in the morning he goes to a spring for water, where he is seen by two of the Lugarenoe. He tells them that he alone survived, that Kemp and Seraphina were drowned.

Lord make my heart a place where angds sing!

Swept clean, and garnished with adoring ioy.
They enter in and dwell
And teach that heart to swell
With heavenly melody, their own untned employ
