' Highland Bus ', by Alexander C. D. Small , .
' I lived in Britain's loneliest island' : memories of Tristan da Cunha, by Edward Tristan Rogers
Both these short talks deal with life lived in lonely parts of the world. Alexander Small , who has already broadcast many times on such outdoor subjects as hiking, camping, climbing, and so on, is a lover of the wide-open spaces, and lives in a remote part of the Scottish Highlands where the arrival of the bus is the event of the day.
In Tristan da Cunha it is the arrival of a ship once a year that is the event to which the inhabitants of.that lonely island look forward as their greatest interest and excitement. E. T. Rogers was born in Tristan da Cunha, where his father was missionary and Governor for many' years.
