A cheerful selection of gramophone records
Records of Vera Lynn, the Forces favourite
Born at East Ham in 1917, Vera Lynn has been voted Crooner No.1 by the Forces. She began singing in charity concerts at the age of seven; joined a juvenile troupe at eleven; appeared with Howard Baker's band at sixteen, with Billy Cotton at seventeen, and with Joe Loss at eighteen; then she was with Charlie Kunz for eighteen months.
Vera's hobbies are painting, gardening, and embroidery, and eating Hamburger steak with plenty of onions (but she hasn't had much opportunity of indulging in this last hobby lately!). She collects tons of silver paper for hospitals.
